Zarla has also occasionally written mini-comics and done illustrations for alternative scenarios where Gaster backed out of his experiment and raised Sans and Papyrus as his sons (either from infancy or sometime before or after first drilling the titular hand-plates onto them, for varying levels of angst) and one scenario where the boys escaped to the ruins and were adopted by Toriel. The AU also goes beyond just backstory, carrying on to Sans and Papyrus's lives after Gaster inevitably falls into the Core and is erased from existence, and eventually, into the fallen human's various runs of the game. While the story began with several out of order comics just focusing on the brothers' lives as Gaster's test subjects, as the AU progressed a clear chronological narrative began to emerge. Gaster's perspective as well, where he forces himself to continue with his experiments despite the emotional and physical toll such cruelty is taking on him, convinced that it's necessary to win the monsters' freedom. However, just as much time is devoted to Dr. The focus is usually on the brothers' perspective, wherein they try to survive and adapt to the things Gaster puts them through, with the story providing explanations for why they are the way they are in Undertale proper. Beginning from a short comic of Frisk wondering why Sans and Papyrus always cover up their right hands, it is an AU that provides a hypothetical scenario that Sans and Papyrus were experiments of Gaster's, and suffering ensues. Serial killer robot, a magician and television star. Familiar with Toriel and often stays with her. Same backstory as classic Asgore, but greatly marred. Serves Asgore out of fear and the vain hope of getting new eyes. Her personality is the same as Undertale. She has small wings and is secretly in love with Alphys. Blinded by Asgore, but well developed in all the other senses. Doesn't usually leave its village.Ĭhief of the Royal Guard. It wears a mask to hide its hideous demon face feared by all. The most dangerous creature in the Underground. Prince of the Underground, son of Toriel and Asgore. They have black wings and black ichor flowing from their eyes. Reincarnation of Asriel Dreemurr.ĭemon-like ghost of a child brought back to existence by Frisk's Determination. Soulless creature who hates Humans and Monsters. She has a scar on her face like an inverted cross. Wears a blue gem around their neck and carries an old kerosene lamp and a cross.Įx-wife of Asgore and now lives in the Ruins. Still aspires to be a member of the Royal Guard, but like in Undertale, Undyne doesn't want him to get killed so she just keeps him on sentry duty. These gaster blasters are very large and inflict burns. The eyes of his Gaster Blasters glow red.
Sans still enjoys jokes and puns but has a darker, more twisted sense of humor. He received his nickname "Teddy" from Frisk, whom he sometimes helps and protects against other Monsters, but usually just stands and watches. Lazy guard in Snowdin and the eldest among the two skeleton brothers.
Their eyes are mutated or mutilated, and are often bright red, solid black, or both. The monsters wear a lot more dark colors, with blood on most of them.
